Martin County Cancer Patient Services Meeting

August 5, 2025

The Martin County Cancer Patient Services met at St. Mary's Hall in Shoals, Indiana at 5:30 PM.  Rheadawn Street opened with a prayer and welcomed the guests.  

In attendance were Rheadawn Street, Shannon Wagoner, robin Hart, Karen Jones, Linda Knight, Debra Guy, Charles Guy, and Kenley Shaw. 

The Secretary report was presented by Shannon Wagoner via email.  It was reviewed by all board members.  Karen Jones made the motion to accept and Robin Hart seconded the motion.  The motion carried 5-0.  Linda Knight presented the treasure report.  Shannon Wagoner made the motion to approve and Rheadawn Street seconded the motion.  It was approved 5-0.

Grant Update and Donations:

Rex Knight printed the Smithville grant - after reviewing guidelines; he will be applying for it.  The grant amount is up to $25,000.

Patient Update and Community Outreach

Total patients - 42

New Patients - 1

Death - Our sympathies go out to the family of Joe Schlaegel. 

Birthday Blessings:

April Mulvey, Janice Meyer, Marilyn Burch, and Amanda Hunt have upcoming birthdays. 

Youth Ambassador:

No recent updates. 

Volunteers:

Volunteers are needed to work the Mathias Chicken Dinner.  The sign up sheet was passed around to members.  A text will be sent to all members unable to attend the meeting.  All volunteers need to be at the Loogootee VFW by 3:30 PM.  The chicken dinner will be served from 4-7 PM.  Karen Jones will work at the raffle table collecting the money for items and tickets.  Rex and Linda Knight will be collecting money for chicken meals at the entrance.  Robin Hart, Rheadawn Street, and Shannon Wagoner will be working the serving line.  Shannon Wagoner will post on the MCCPS Facebook to boost interest in the dinner.  A special thank you to Karen and Robin for coordinating the Mathias Chicken Dinner.  

Fundraising:

The Quilt raffle ticket winner will be drawn at the Mathias Chicken Dinner on August 9th.  The e-bike raffle will continue until Hindostan Days on October 4th.  Tickets are $10 each or 6 for $50.  

Upcoming Events:

Hindostan Days, October 4 - There will be yard signs, t-shirts, bracelets, keychains, and e-bike raffle tickets offered at the booth.  Volunteers are needed to work the booth.

Old Business:

The Catfish Festival was a success.  All members are in agreement to set up a booth next year.

New Business:

Karen Jones made a motion to give a gray t-shirt to individuals who buy 6 raffle tickets for $50.  Linda knight seconded the motion.  All in favor vote passed 5-0. 

Shannon Wagoner made a motion to adjourn and Rheadawn Street seconded it.  All in favor voted 5-0.  The meeting was adjourned at 6:09 PM.  The next meeting will be held at Loogootee Library in Loogootee, Indiana on September 2, 2025 at 5:30 PM.
